Prevention is our raison d’etre. For example, whenever possible, we use a restorative and conservative dentistry approach in order to prevent and, when needed, cure cavities in any of its stages.
Tooth decay is one of the biggest problems people face when it comes to dental health and can be easily, quickly and painlessly treated by removing the infected tissue and reconstructing the tooth with biocompatible resin fillings. This reconstruction is known as a “dental filling”, but is technically known as an obturation. To ensure that the procedure is simple, quick and, above all, painless we work meticulously with quality equipment and refined techniques. This allows for the correct rehabilitation of the anatomy of each tooth without causing any problems in the future.
Currently, many techniques and possibilities regarding materials for restoration have been developed in the realm of conservative dentistry. Long gone are the old, silver amalgam fillings, which are far from aesthetically pleasing and which contain mercury. The new materials allow a much better final result, thanks to their malleable qualities and their molecular properties that offer much more aesthetically pleasing results.
What causes tooth decay?
Tooth decay is the most common dental illness. It’s a bacterial illness that destroys the dental structure and is caused by microorganisms that live in our mouths.
What causes tooth decay?
Tooth decay, or caries, is the most common dental illness. It’s a bacterial illness that destroys the dental structure and is caused by microorganisms that live in our mouths.
When we eat, the leftover traces of sugar that stayed in the mouth are metabolized by the bacterial plaque, thus producing acid and consequently lowering the intra-oral pH. This low pH attacks the mineral layer of the tooth enamel leading to demineralisation.
One thing we know for sure is that there exists a predisposition to suffer from tooth decay, which is why these patients are considered high risk, while we could consider others as low or medium risk. Naturally, with our help, the proper treatments can turn a high risk patient into a low risk patient, always supported by correct dental hygiene
To us, each patient is unique. Let us take care of you!
