Invisalign in Barcelona: all you need to know about invisible orthodontics

26 de November de 2020patricia CarrascoUncategorizedNo Comments

If you are thinking of going to the dentist for an orthodontic treatment, but you don’t want the treatment to affect your daily life and image… Then the perfect solution for you will be always Invisalign. Why? Because with this treatment you can make sure to correct your crooked teeth will be correct.

Most people don’t want their mouth to be full of metal brackets and wires. Therefore, this is a type of orthodontics you should consider. This treatment is affordable, but we would like to clear up all your doubts and in this post, we will explain to you more interesting things about Invisalign.

¿What is Invisalign?

This is a completely modern and innovative treatment characterized by replacing traditional brackets and wires. In order to get your teeth aligned, plastic aligners are used. That will allow you to align your teeth without hardly noticing it.

Aligners are made especially for you, totally custom, and each kit will be used for two weeks. These kits are replaced every two weeks until the perfect smile is achieved. As they are transparent no one will notice that you are wearing them. Moreover, they are more comfortable than traditional alternatives.

¿How Invisalign works?

Invisalign works under the same principles of orthodontics. That is, they work by applying soft and constant pressure to your teeth, so they will move to the desired position.

However, unlike traditional orthodontics that uses braces attached directly to your teeth and they are activated with wires every month. With Invisalign, you will not have this problem as plastic aligners are used in a way that exerts pressure to your teeth.

The mechanism for its use is very similar, but it is not the same, especially since traditional systems will exert more pressure. But with Invisalign, you can achieve good results with less pressure, and changing your braces every 2 weeks.

Invisalign benefits

The main objective of this treatment is to move your teeth to their desired position. But you may not know all the advantages that this technology has and that is why it is worth knowing them:

  • It is a very discreet system, making it almost invisible. Aligners are transparent and difficult to see with the naked eye.
  • They are removable. This allows you to have greater comfort as they can be removed easily.
  • You should not use any type of special diet when using these aligners, which will guarantee that you can continue with your regular life.
  • You will be able to brush and floss regularly
  • Invisalign is designed and guided by computers, which is why they are more efficient than traditional appliances
  • Treatment time is lower for Invisalign

As you can see, this technology will give you plenty of benefits and you should take them into consideration when choosing your treatment.

Invisalign disadvantages

It is important to note that this is a treatment that also has some disadvantages that you should consider. The main disadvantage is that it is a technology that is designed for treatments that have a mild to moderate malocclusion.

However, for complex cases where the teeth are not well aligned, it is best to continue using traditional orthodontics. In some cases, both are combined, using orthodontic treatment at first, and then Invisalign. In this way, the period in which the patient will have to wear traditional braces will be much shorter and they will have less discomfort.

Cost and duration

These are two aspects that you should take into account, especially because these treatments usually have a duration depending on the complexity of each case. The more complex the case is, the longer you will have to use the treatment to correct the problem

Average duration

They are treatments that have an average duration between 6 months and 2 years of treatment. It all depends largely on how difficult the treatment is, so it won’t always be the same time.

Some people with very short treatments already have a perfect smile. However, in more complex cases, when having to combine it with traditional orthodontics, the time could be much longer.

Cost

When talking about cost, you should bear in mind that the prices are usually very similar to traditional orthodontics. In some cases, the cost of Invisalign treatment is a bit higher. But, considering the comfort that they provide, they worth it.

In any case, this type of orthodontics has more advantages than disadvantages, reason why you should make sure to choose this method. If you pay attention to price, you will lose too much time not only with the treatment but also with the visits to your dentist.

¿How to keep your treatment in good condition?

Despite being fabricated of highly resistant materials, these devices require some basic care in order not to deteriorate them. To wash them you must make sure to remove them from your mouth, wash them with warm water, toothpaste, and with a toothbrush (not too soft nor too hard).

You should clean them inside and outside and make sure to rinse them with warm water. This is a routine you should make every time you brush your teeth on a daily basis. This way you can keep them in a good condition, and you will prevent your aligners from being affected by tartar.
