A beautiful smile is always essential in order to express your happiness, joy or just to show kindness. Teeth are also directly related to human health, and that’s why you should make sure your smile is always healthy.

You should bear in mind that there are some basic aspects for you in order to take care of your health. We have put them together in this post so you can make sure to start applying them in your daily life and improve your smile appearance.

7 key factors for your smile care

In order to take care of your smile in the correct way, you need to bear in mind seven key factors that we will explain you in this post. So, we invite you to continue reading.

Proper hygiene

It will always be vital to have a good teeth hygiene, that’s why you should always brush your teeth after each meal. Brushing should be done at least three times a day to keep your mouth completely clean.

You must make sure your brush is the proper for you and your tastes, and it needs to be always accompanied by the use of dental floss. You should also use a good mouthwash, so that you maintain good health in your mouth. It is recommendable to ask your dentist the best options for you.

Brush every area of your mouth and take care of your smile

Bacteria in your mouth will not only be located in your teeth. That’s why it is important not to brush only your teeth. You must consider the hygiene of your gums and palate that needs to be done with circular movements.

In any case, you should make sure to change your toothbrush every three months or when the bristles have lost their shape. Make sure to do that, otherwise you should have a build-up of bacteria that will be harmful for your mouth health.

Do not drink carbonated or acidic drinks

It is important to consider that carbonated drinks and acidic juices can produce decalcifications of tooth enamel. This will erosionate your teeth and can cause problems in the future.

Moreover, drinks like coffee, tea or wine can cause stains on your teeth. That’s why it is recommendable to drink them with straws in order to avoid stains.

Avoid sudden changes in temperature

Food can increase tooth sensitivity, reason why you should make sure that you have control over them. In any case, make sure to consume your food at room temperature without consuming very hot or cold food.

If you consume very hot food it can cause inflammation of the blood vessels inside your teeth, which is not advisable at all. For this reason, you should avoid any extreme temperature when consuming your food.

Decrease your sugars consumption

You must bear in mind that the bacteria that produce cavities mainly feed on sugar. That’s why you should make sure to reduce the consumption of these kind of foods in order to avoid the proliferation of bacteria.

You need to increase the consumption of proteins, calcium, fluoride and vitamins A, C, D and K to keep your teeth completely healthy. For this reason, your teeth health will largely depend on your diet. Diet is also related to psychological problems. You can find more informations about this in this link.

Eat food that helps your teeth and your smile

There are foods that will help your teeth to be completely healthy and white. Among the main one you should consider, we find: apples, vegetables, yogurt, cheese, grapes and lemon.

Lemon should be applied to your teeth with salt and bicarbonate, this way you can do home whitening. The consumption of these foods will help you to keep your teeth healthier, cleaner and totally white, avoiding any type of damage to them.

Avoid tobacco

It is important to bear in mind that tobacco is one of your teeth’s worst enemies, especially since it will cause stains. It also produces a loss of oxygenation of the tissues that surround the teeth.

For this reason, if you don’t want your teeth to age prematurely, you should make sure to avoid tobacco. In this way, you can achieve better health in general, thus guaranteeing that you will have a healthy mouth, and that will allow you to have a more beautiful smile. If you consume a lot of cigarettes you should know that this will affect the health of your teeth and their appearance.

¿Why you should have a healthy mouth?

It is important that you have a healthy mouth, because it will allow you to chew your food better and thus absorb its nutrients. It is not only an aesthetic aspect, but it also has a complete impact on your general body health.

If you apply this care on a regular basis, you can make sure to avoid this kind of problems and oral diseases that can last during all your life. They also allow you to alleviate heart pathologies, so you better start applying these tips.

¿How often should i visit the dentist?

These kinds of care we have talked about previously are not the only thing you should do so that you can achieve a more beautiful smile. In any case, you must pay close attention to the fact that going to the dentist regularly will be a fundamental point to take into account, because this way you can ensure that you maintain good oral health.

Prophylaxis will allow you to remove excess tartar on your teeth, thus drastically reducing the possibility of tooth decay. For this reason, you should make sure to visit your trusted dentist at least every 6 months, because this way you can avoid most diseases associated with teeth and that you can avoid with proper care.
