Several habits can help you have better dental health, among the most recommended are those described below.

Nutrition

You should keep in mind that many foods can stain your teeth, or even damage their protective layer. You should always avoid dark drinks such as coffee, tea or red wine.

Also, fruits such as blueberries or grapes have pigments that can color teeth. If you are one of those who like citrus foods, these can spoil the tooth enamel, or sugary foods can also cause stains or tooth decay.

Tobacco

Certainly, this is one of the main factors by which teeth can turn yellow. In all cases, when you smoke you are inhaling toxic substances, which will not only darken your teeth but will weaken them.

They can also affect the gums, and therefore it is a habit to avoid maintaining good oral health and white teeth. Otherwise, in addition to darkening your teeth, you may have periodontitis, gingivitis, or cancer.

Medicines

You should keep in mind that many medications can cause spots. Among the most common are tetracycline, doxycycline, chlorhexidine, among others. Avoid using this type of medication because they can cause both temporary and permanent stains.

Before taking any medication, remember to check with your dentist to avoid stains that may appear on the teeth. Some antihistamine medications can also produce this type of stains, so if you take these allergy medications you should be careful with your teeth.

Dental hygiene

To prevent teeth from staining, it is essential to have good dental hygiene. To do this, you must brush them after each meal, floss, and mouthwash daily, especially if it does not contain alcohol.

Also, you should change the toothbrush regularly, it is recommended that it be changed at least every three months so that bacteria don’t accumulate in it. If it is an electric brush you must change the head around the same period of time.

Dental treatments

In the event that none of the above tips have worked for you, or that your teeth are stained from before and don’t look as you want them to look, it is always good that you turn to a dentist for your case, and thus can give you the best options for agreement to your teeth.

Tooth whitening that is performed in a dental office is a procedure that is characterized by being effective and safe, getting whiter teeth.
